Description
Supervise and support justice-involved youth on probation or in detention, focusing on rehabilitation, accountability, and public safety. Develop individualized case plans, coordinate services with families, schools, and community providers, and monitor compliance with court-ordered conditions. Prepare reports and recommendations to juvenile court regarding disposition, services, and sanctions.
- • Maintain case files for each assigned youth, documenting contacts, plans, and compliance.
- • Prepare progress notes and court reports on juveniles' performance and needs.
- • Explain probation conditions to youth and guardians, including school attendance, curfew, counseling, community service, and restitution.
- • Discuss factors contributing to delinquent behavior, such as trauma, family conflict, truancy, substance use, and anger management.
- • Gather background information from youth, families, schools, and collateral contacts.
- • Develop individualized case plans with goals, rules, and services appropriate to age and risk/needs.
- • Build partnerships with schools, youth programs, child welfare, behavioral health, and community agencies for coordinated care.
- • Arrange mental health, substance use, medical, and family counseling services per assessments or court orders.
- • Assist families with court requirements, restitution processes, no-contact orders, and access to benefits and supports.
- • Coordinate reentry and aftercare for youth returning from detention or residential placement, including school re-enrollment and mentoring.
- • Apply graduated responses to noncompliance and submit violation or modification recommendations to the court when necessary.
- • Meet regularly with probationers at home, school, and in the office to monitor progress and reinforce goals.
- • Assess suitability of detained youth for release to community supervision or diversion and provide recommendations to the court.
- • Investigate alleged probation violations using interviews, school checks, home visits, and electronic monitoring data.
- • Conduct intake and predisposition investigations and testify in juvenile hearings with recommendations for disposition and conditions.
- • Recommend appropriate placements, such as diversion, community-based programs, residential treatment, or detention alternatives.
- • Participate in intake decisions regarding diversion versus formal filing and collaborate with prosecutors, defenders, and intake officers.
- • Identify and approve age-appropriate community service or restorative justice placements.
- • Provide youth and families with resource guides on education, employment, recreation, and supportive services.
- • Administer drug and alcohol tests as ordered and monitor compliance with treatment plans.
- • Supervise youth on probation, home detention, or electronic monitoring; conduct curfew checks and school and home visits.
