Description
Perform forensic identification and evidence documentation, including capturing and processing fingerprints and photographs, developing and comparing latent prints, managing biometric records, and preparing materials for investigations and court.
  • • Photograph crime and accident scenes and evidence using digital systems.
  • • Develop, lift, and preserve latent fingerprints with powders, chemicals, and cyanoacrylate.
  • • Search, compare, and verify fingerprints in AFIS and other biometric databases.
  • • Classify and file tenprint and palm print records; ensure livescan quality.
  • • Collect and document trace impressions using alternative light sources.
  • • Package, label, store, and retrieve evidence while maintaining chain of custody.
  • • Prepare detailed identification and evidence reports.
  • • Testify in court on identification procedures and findings.
  • • Submit evidence and documentation to supervisors, crime labs, or prosecutors.
  • • Create scaled sketches or diagrams of scenes when required.
  • • Provide technical guidance on fingerprinting, photography, and evidence handling.
  • • Process, catalog, and archive digital images and video evidence.
  • • Respond to call-outs and perform after-hours or emergency work.
  • • Maintain equipment, chemicals, and PPE; follow safety protocols.
  • • Coordinate or deliver training on livescan, AFIS use, and scene documentation for staff.
