Description
Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and deformities of the foot and ankle through medical, surgical, and preventive care.
- • Evaluate foot and ankle conditions using histories, physical exams, imaging, and lab tests.
- • Prescribe medications, orthotics, and physical therapy.
- • Perform surgery for corns, calluses, ingrown nails, bunions, cysts, tumors, abscesses, and tendon issues.
- • Counsel patients on treatment options, footwear, and preventive foot care.
- • Refer patients for systemic concerns such as diabetes or arthritis.
- • Correct deformities with plaster casts, strapping, and bracing.
- • Design, fit, and adjust custom orthotics and prosthetic appliances.
- • Apply therapeutic modalities such as whirlpool, paraffin baths, and electrical stimulation.
- • Treat bone, muscle, and joint disorders of the feet and ankles.
- • Document care, manage records, and oversee practice operations, supplies, and staffing.
- • Educate the public about foot health through talks, outreach, and other forums.
