Description
Lead the technical direction of a chemical manufacturing plant, overseeing process engineering, technology, and R&D interface to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and high-quality production.
- • Confer with process engineers, operations, EHS, quality, and regulators to plan, review, and troubleshoot plant projects.
- • Engage with key customers and suppliers to define specifications, address quality issues, and communicate technical status.
- • Plan and direct process development, scale-up, technology transfer, and production optimization activities.
- • Prepare and evaluate technical proposals and business cases for capital and improvement projects.
- • Lead root-cause analyses and design or coordinate trials, validations, and commissioning to solve process problems.
- • Review operating data, KPIs, and technical reports, and approve corrective actions and recommendations.
- • Hire, supervise, and develop engineers, chemists, and technical staff; manage performance and succession.
- • Translate corporate goals into plant technical objectives and detailed execution plans.
- • Establish and enforce technical standards, SOPs, MOC, and PSM procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- • Identify, select, and implement new technologies and digital tools; train staff for sustained adoption.
- • Oversee stewardship of process safety, asset integrity, and environmental performance, including emissions and waste minimization.
- • Sponsor and guide applied research, pilot trials, and analytical method development to support manufacturing.
- • Build and maintain a high-performing technical organization through recruiting, mentoring, and competency development.
- • Manage intellectual property, licensing, and technical aspects of regulatory filings as needed.
- • Develop and control technical budgets; approve expenditures and report financial and operational results.
- • Present technical updates and best practices to executive leadership and industry forums.
