Description
Provide counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups to promote optimal mental and emotional health, with emphasis on prevention and early intervention. Address concerns such as substance use, relationship and parenting issues, stress, self-esteem, trauma, and aging; develop evidence-based treatment plans, coordinate community resources, and monitor progress toward goals.
  • • Maintain confidential client records and information.
  • • Build rapport and encourage clients to express feelings and experiences.
  • • Teach coping skills and strategies to address identified problems.
  • • Prepare and maintain treatment documentation and reports.
  • • Provide individual and group counseling to support recovery and adjustment.
  • • Gather client information through interviews, observation, and standardized measures.
  • • Act as a client advocate to coordinate needed services.
  • • Develop and implement evidence-based, person-centered treatment plans.
  • • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and evaluate mental status.
  • • Consult and exchange information with families and relevant stakeholders (e.g., probation, schools, law enforcement) as permitted.
  • • Provide referrals to community resources and specialized care.
  • • Counsel and educate family members to support client goals.
  • • Monitor progress and evaluate treatment effectiveness against objectives.
  • • Plan and facilitate structured therapeutic, educational, or recreational groups.
  • • Modify interventions to reflect changes in client status or needs.
  • • Engage in continuing education and professional development.
  • • Support discharge and aftercare planning with clients.
  • • Identify community mental health needs and resources to enhance services.
  • • Monitor clients' adherence and responses to prescribed medications, in coordination with prescribers.
  • • Develop and deliver prevention or wellness programs (e.g., substance use, stress management).
  • • Assess and manage suicide risk using established protocols.
  • • Complete required paperwork, including intake forms, diagnostic records, and progress notes.
  • • Provide supervision or mentorship to interns or support staff, as assigned.
  • • Design and deliver trainings or workshops on mental health topics.
  • • Perform crisis intervention to ensure client and community safety.
  • • Collaborate with interdisciplinary providers to conduct assessments and coordinate care.
