Description
Manage the receipt, laundering, storage, and distribution of linens and uniforms for hotels, hospitals, or similar facilities. Maintain inventory and par levels, ensure cleanliness and quality standards, label and store items, and supply clean linen to departments and guest/patient areas.
  • • Receive, sort, and stage soiled linens and uniforms by type and soil level.
  • • Operate washers, dryers, and flatwork ironers to launder and finish items.
  • • Fold, count, and bundle clean linens to standard packing sizes.
  • • Label or barcode linens and uniforms and update markings as needed.
  • • Inspect items for stains, tears, and wear; remove rejects and report damage.
  • • Replenish linen closets and housekeeping carts to established par levels.
  • • Transport clean and soiled linens using carts and bins along designated routes.
  • • Maintain strict separation of clean and soiled areas to meet infection control standards.
  • • Track daily linen usage and inventory; record counts in logs or software.
  • • Receive bulk deliveries and shipments; verify quantities and rotate stock (FIFO).
  • • Prepare outgoing laundry for external vendors and reconcile pickup and delivery tickets.
  • • Issue and collect staff uniforms; track checkouts and returns.
  • • Perform minor mending, tagging, and button replacement on linens and uniforms.
  • • Mix and refill laundry chemicals and detergents and monitor safety data.
  • • Clean lint traps and machine exteriors and perform basic preventive maintenance.
  • • Keep the linen room, shelves, and carts clean, organized, and labeled.
  • • Sweep and mop linen room floors and remove laundry waste and empty bin liners.
  • • Prepare special linen orders for events or clinical areas as requested.
  • • Deliver extra blankets, pillows, and towels to guest rooms or units upon request.
  • • Report equipment issues, shortages, and irregularities to supervisors and request service.
