Description
Plan, direct, and coordinate hedge fund investment strategy and operations for pooled capital from accredited and institutional investors, targeting absolute and risk-adjusted returns while managing risk, leverage, liquidity, and compliance.
- • Prepare for and respond to SEC, CFTC, or NFA examinations and investor due diligence.
- • Verify compliance of trading, short-selling, and derivatives reporting and disclosures.
- • Hire, develop, or evaluate portfolio, research, trading, risk, and operations staff.
- • Direct trading, risk, compliance, accounting, and operations, coordinating with prime brokers and the fund administrator.
- • Develop, implement, and monitor valuation policies for thinly traded or Level 3 assets and side pockets.
- • Stay current on markets and catalysts via research, data feeds, and industry briefings.
- • Review and approve PPMs, LPAs, and marketing materials for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- • Lead fundamental, quantitative, and macro research to inform forecasts, security selection, and position sizing.
- • Present strategy, risks, fees, liquidity terms, and performance metrics to current and prospective investors.
- • Monitor positions, P&L, exposures, leverage, and liquidity to keep portfolios within risk limits.
- • Track regulatory or tax changes affecting hedge funds and adjust policies or strategies accordingly.
- • Meet with investors to discuss goals, capital allocations, lock-ups, and redemption schedules.
- • Identify and cultivate target investors such as family offices, endowments, and funds of funds.
- • Develop pitchbooks, DDQs, and other offering or marketing materials.
- • Evaluate new strategies, markets, or products, including backtesting and capacity analysis.
- • Design and implement hedge fund investment policies, risk limits, and trading protocols.
- • Execute or oversee execution of trades across equities, credit, derivatives, FX, or commodities.
- • Analyze corporate actions, events, and special situations for alpha opportunities and compliance fit.
- • Manage the hedge fund to deliver absolute and risk-adjusted returns consistent with mandates.
- • Construct and rebalance portfolios, selecting securities, hedges, and factor exposures.
