Description
Assist petroleum engineers and geoscientists in exploration, drilling, logging, and production. Operate electronic, sonic, and nuclear instruments; analyze mud, cuttings, cores, and fluids; and chart well pressure, temperature, and other parameters to evaluate hydrocarbons and optimize operations.
- • Collect and analyze drilling mud, cuttings, and cores for lithology, shows, and fluid content.
- • Prepare and preserve oil, gas, and water samples; maintain chain of custody.
- • Compile and transmit real-time and daily wellsite data and logs.
- • Draft mud logs, daily drilling summaries, and technical reports.
- • Calibrate, operate, and perform minor repairs on LWD/MWD, wireline, and lab instruments.
- • Research offset wells and public databases to support planning.
- • Enter, QC, and manage geological and production data in databases.
- • Set up and operate gas detectors, densitometers, flowmeters, and pressure/temperature sensors.
- • Direct helpers or contractors during logging, coring, and testing.
- • Prepare well logs, cross-sections, and formation-top picks.
- • Record and QC drilling parameters, gas levels, and mud properties for well control.
- • Photograph and catalog cores, cuttings, and equipment setups.
- • Measure porosity, permeability, density, and fluid properties using lab tests.
- • Assist in prospect and reservoir evaluation using logs, cuttings, cores, and seismic.
- • Monitor HSE compliance; manage waste, spills, and sample handling.
- • Support well completions and production start-up; monitor pressures, rates, and fluids.
- • Witness and document DSTs, flowbacks, and well tests.
- • Inspect and maintain pumps, generators, and engines for data-acquisition systems.
- • Coordinate with drilling, completions, and production teams to align data needs.
- • Apply advanced imaging and analytics to improve reservoir characterization.
- • Collect data for reservoir surveillance, EOR, or CCUS projects.
- • Prepare permit support documents for logging and well testing activities.
- • Evaluate and QC seismic and well log datasets with software.
- • Participate in exploratory and development drilling and field surveys.
- • Plot information from well logs, section descriptions, and aerial imagery.
- • Supervise well logging and assist during drilling and completion operations.
- • Collaborate with hydrogeologists where groundwater affects drilling or production.
- • Maintain inventory and spare parts for logging and laboratory equipment.
