Description
Use Geographic Information Systems to study, map, and analyze the Earth’s surface, integrating physical and human geography. Acquire, manage, and model geospatial data to interpret spatial relationships and interdependencies from local to global scales, and communicate findings through maps, web applications, and reports to support research, planning, and decision-making.
  • • Create, edit, and symbolize maps and layers using GIS and cartographic principles, including coordinate systems, projections, and scales.
  • • Write and present reports, maps, and dashboards that communicate spatial findings and recommendations.
  • • Develop, operate, and maintain GIS platforms, including software, servers, mobile apps, plotters, and peripherals.
  • • Locate, acquire, and integrate existing geospatial datasets and imagery, ensuring licensing and attribution compliance.
  • • Analyze spatial distributions and patterns of physical and cultural phenomena across multiple scales.
  • • Gather and compile geospatial data from censuses, field surveys, GNSS, remote sensing, aerial photos, and existing maps.
  • • Conduct fieldwork to collect GPS/GNSS points, ground-truth features, and validate spatial models.
  • • Design, build, and maintain geodatabases; define schemas, domains, and relationships; and manage metadata.
  • • Automate geoprocessing and data pipelines using ModelBuilder, SQL, and Python.
  • • Publish and manage web maps, services, and APIs; build interactive web apps and dashboards for stakeholders.
  • • Provide GIS consulting, training, and technical support to public and private clients for resource management, site selection, hazard assessment, and planning.
  • • Ensure data quality, standards compliance, and data governance, including projection management and version control.
