Description
Perform non-cooking food prep duties—wash and cut produce, slice meats, prepare cold items and beverages, set up stations, and maintain safe, sanitary storage and work areas.
  • • Butcher, clean, and portion poultry, fish, and shellfish.
  • • Cut, slice, or grind meats and seafood for cooking.
  • • Scrape leftovers into waste containers.
  • • Store food in labeled containers and designated areas to prevent spoilage.
  • • Package takeout orders or serve food to customers.
  • • Portion and wrap food or plate items for service.
  • • Stage trays on warmers for service or hold in refrigerated cabinets.
  • • Weigh and measure ingredients.
  • • Assist cooks and provide needed items during service.
  • • Receive and store supplies, equipment, and utensils.
  • • Stock refrigerators and dry storage; set up and replenish salad bars and buffets.
  • • Remove trash and clean garbage containers.
  • • Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks.
  • • Transport food, equipment, and utensils between storage and work areas.
  • • Prepare dressings, spreads, and sandwich condiments.
  • • Use manual and electric tools to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods.
  • • Stir, strain, and hold soups and sauces.
  • • Distribute prepared items to servers for delivery to guests.
  • • Record quantities of food prepped and used.
  • • Load dishes, glassware, and utensils into dish machines.
  • • Assemble trays with food, cutlery, and napkins on line stations (e.g., hospitals, cafeterias, airline kitchens).
  • • Mix ingredients for green, fruit, vegetable, and pasta salads.
  • • Distribute menus, collect diet sheets, and deliver trays and snacks in healthcare settings.
  • • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and tableware.
  • • Prepare meats, vegetables, desserts, and other items per orders and standard procedures.
  • • Take and log temperatures of foods, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • • Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables for cooking or service.
  • • Report equipment issues and low stock; request or order needed items.
  • • Operate a cash register, handle payments, and make correct change.
  • • Sweep and mop kitchen floors and vacuum dining areas.
  • • Assemble meal trays to match patient diet orders.
