Description
Supervise and coordinate correctional officers and jailers to maintain safety, security, and order within correctional facilities.
- • Conduct and verify periodic inmate counts.
- • Maintain order, discipline, and security in assigned areas per laws, policies, and procedures.
- • Respond to emergencies, including escapes, disturbances, or medical incidents.
- • Enforce institutional policies and ensure staff compliance.
- • Direct and oversee correctional officers to ensure safe custody and inmate welfare.
- • Oversee and, when necessary, use authorized restraints, chemical agents, or firearms.
- • Supervise or conduct inmate and housing searches for contraband.
- • Monitor staff conduct for alert, professional, and respectful behavior.

- • Screen incoming and outgoing inmate mail for compliance.
- • Elevate staff or inmate complaints to leadership as appropriate.
- • Review inmate files and alerts to identify special management needs.
- • Conduct performance evaluations and provide corrective feedback.
