Description
Provide academic leadership as a professor of Family and Consumer Sciences, teaching and mentoring students in childcare, family relations, personal finance, nutrition, and home management. Lead original research, secure external funding, publish scholarship, and serve the department, university, and community through governance and outreach.
  • • Evaluate and grade students' coursework, labs, projects, and papers.
  • • Lead and moderate engaging classroom discussions.
  • • Deliver undergraduate and graduate lectures in nutrition, child development, family relations, personal finance, and related FCS topics.
  • • Develop syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and other course materials.
  • • Stay current with advances in family and consumer sciences through literature, conferences, and professional networks.
  • • Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, and academic records.
  • • Lead program and course design; assess and revise curricula and instructional methods.
  • • Create, administer, and grade examinations, or oversee these activities.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways, research opportunities, and careers.
  • • Hold regular office hours to mentor and assist students.
  • • Supervise undergraduate and graduate teaching, internships, theses, and dissertations.
  • • Select and adopt textbooks, software, and instructional materials.
  • • Lead original research; analyze data and publish in journals, books, and digital media.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues and interdisciplinary teams on teaching and research initiatives.
  • • Advise and support student organizations and honor societies.
  • • Contribute to student recruitment, orientation, and placement efforts.
  • • Serve on and chair departmental, college, and university committees, including tenure and promotion.
  • • Engage with campus and community partners through outreach and extension activities.
  • • Curate bibliographies and readings for advanced study.
  • • Perform administrative duties and academic leadership roles, such as program coordinator or department chair.
  • • Secure external funding by writing competitive grant proposals.
  • • Provide expert consulting to government, nonprofits, and industry stakeholders.
  • • Conduct peer and faculty performance evaluations and mentor junior faculty.
