Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in family and consumer sciences (child development, family relations, consumer finance, nutrition, and home management), conduct scholarly research, mentor students, and provide service to the department, university, and community.
- • Evaluate and grade student work, labs, projects, and papers.
- • Lead and moderate classroom and online discussions.
- • Prepare and deliver undergraduate and graduate lectures in FCS areas (nutrition, child development, family relations, consumer economics).
- • Develop and update syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and course materials.
- • Stay current in FCS scholarship through literature review, conferences, and professional networks.
- • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required academic records.
- • Design, assess, and revise curricula, course content, and teaching methods.
- • Create, administer, and grade exams or oversee TAs in this work.
- • Advise students on coursework, research pathways, and careers.
- • Hold regular office hours to support student success.
- • Supervise undergraduate and graduate teaching, internships, theses, and research.
- • Select textbooks, software, lab supplies, and instructional materials.
- • Conduct original research in FCS and publish in peer-reviewed outlets.
- • Collaborate with faculty, extension, and community partners on teaching and research.
- • Advise and mentor student organizations and honors societies.
- • Support recruitment, admissions, and student placement activities.
- • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- • Engage in campus, extension, and community outreach events.
- • Curate bibliographies and resources for outside readings and projects.
- • Take on administrative roles as needed (e.g., program coordinator or department chair).
- • Write and manage grant proposals to secure external and internal funding.
- • Provide professional consulting or expert testimony to government, schools, or industry.
- • Participate in faculty peer review and performance evaluations.
