Description
The Endoscopy Technician (Endoscopy Tech) maintains aseptic technique, prepares rooms, instruments, and equipment, and supports physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures; reprocesses scopes, performs safety checks, and assists with patient monitoring and specimen collection.
- • Manage inventory of endoscopic equipment, disposables, and supplies.
- • Perform pre- and post-procedure safety and functionality checks on equipment.
- • Set up procedure rooms according to specific endoscopy protocols.
- • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting; coordinate repairs as needed.
- • Position and transport patients per clinician instructions and safety policies.
- • Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures.
- • Attend in-service training to maintain competencies.
- • Collect and label specimens using standard procedures.
- • Clean, disinfect, and calibrate endoscopes and accessories per manufacturer and facility standards.
- • Provide in-service updates on equipment use and reprocessing when delegated.
- • Stay current on endoscopy practices through literature, peers, and professional activities.
- • Apply monitoring devices (e.g., blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, ECG leads) and support vital sign monitoring.
