Description
The Endoscopy Technician (Endoscopy Tech) maintains aseptic technique, prepares rooms, instruments, and equipment, and supports physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures; reprocesses scopes, performs safety checks, and assists with patient monitoring and specimen collection.
  • • Manage inventory of endoscopic equipment, disposables, and supplies.
  • • Perform pre- and post-procedure safety and functionality checks on equipment.
  • • Set up procedure rooms according to specific endoscopy protocols.
  • • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting; coordinate repairs as needed.
  • • Position and transport patients per clinician instructions and safety policies.
  • • Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures.
  • • Attend in-service training to maintain competencies.
  • • Collect and label specimens using standard procedures.
  • • Clean, disinfect, and calibrate endoscopes and accessories per manufacturer and facility standards.
  • • Provide in-service updates on equipment use and reprocessing when delegated.
  • • Stay current on endoscopy practices through literature, peers, and professional activities.
  • • Apply monitoring devices (e.g., blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, ECG leads) and support vital sign monitoring.
