Description
Ensure safe, compliant cleaning, high-level disinfection/sterilization, drying, storage, and traceability of flexible and rigid endoscopes and accessories. Operate AERs and related equipment, perform quality control and documentation, and manage inventory to provide procedure-ready devices for clinical teams. Maintain infection prevention standards and assist with equipment troubleshooting and repair coordination.
  • • Leak test, manually clean, and high-level disinfect or sterilize endoscopes per IFU, AAMI ST91, and facility policy.
  • • Operate, load, and unload automated endoscope reprocessors (AERs) and drying/storage cabinets safely.
  • • Perform routine calibration and performance checks on AERs, leak testers, and inspection devices.
  • • Maintain inventories of reprocessing supplies, endoscopic accessories, and loaners; rotate stock and track expirations.
  • • Perform safety and functionality checks on endoscopes and accessories; remove damaged items from service.
  • • Assemble accessory sets and prepare procedure-ready endoscopes; stage and deliver to procedure areas.
  • • Transport contaminated and reprocessed scopes in approved containers while maintaining chain-of-custody and traceability.
  • • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting; coordinate vendor service or repairs as needed.
  • • Document all reprocessing steps, cycle parameters, lot numbers, and scope-to-patient traceability in logs or tracking systems.
  • • Monitor and document HLD minimum recommended concentrations, test strips, and water quality; replace solutions per IFU.
  • • Adhere to PPE, OSHA, and infection prevention policies to maintain separation of clean and dirty workflows.
  • • Participate in and provide in-service training; stay current with AAMI ST91, CDC, and manufacturer updates through literature and professional organizations.
