Description
Prepare electrical plans, wiring diagrams, one-lines, and layout drawings for power distribution, lighting, controls, and communications, supporting the design, installation, and maintenance of building electrical systems.
  • • Draft electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and connection details for installation crews.
  • • Prepare cross-sections and profiles for underground ducts and cable routes.
  • • Assemble drawing sets and documentation packages for engineer review and approval.
  • • Consult with electrical engineers to clarify concepts and define drawing requirements.
  • • Check construction drawings and estimates for accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
  • • Review schematics and vendor data to develop and verify conductor sizes, conduit sizes, and panel schedules.
  • • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field staff to resolve design issues.
  • • Produce one-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting layouts, and control diagrams using CAD/BIM.
  • • Measure and document site factors affecting equipment placement and cable/conduit routing.
  • • Set up project files, templates, and sheet standards; maintain version control in CAD/BIM.
  • • Lay out lighting, receptacle, and power distribution under engineer direction.
  • • Create scaled plans showing relationships of new electrical work to existing utilities and architecture.
  • • Review design briefs to determine service type, capacity, and equipment needs.
  • • Explain drawings to construction teams and issue revisions per RFIs and field changes.
  • • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to integrate equipment dimensions and connection requirements.
  • • Plot and issue drawing packages; maintain revision logs and transmittals.
  • • Input design parameters into CAD/BIM models and run basic clash checks.
  • • Guide and check work of junior drafters or CAD technicians.
  • • Cross-check models and drawings against single-line diagrams and specifications for consistency.
  • • Define drawing organization, layers, line weights, and presentation methods.
  • • Review architectural and structural plans to route conduits, cable trays, and homeruns; coordinate with installers.
  • • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and prepare field sketches.
  • • Select conduit and cable tray sizes, supports, and mounting details per code and specs.
  • • Lay out circuiting and panel connections; assign circuit numbers and homeruns on plans.
  • • Prepare notes, load summaries, and schedules; update one-line diagrams.
  • • Maintain drafting standards, title blocks, and project libraries.
  • • Train team members on CAD/BIM procedures and preparation of electrical drawings.
  • • Interpret specifications and perform basic calculations for load, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
  • • Use computer-aided drafting tools, code handbooks, calculators, and traditional drafting instruments.
