Description
Prepare detailed CAD drawings, models, and layouts used for the manufacture, construction, installation, or repair of components, systems, or structures.
  • • Draft working drawings, detailed plans, and specifications for assemblies, systems, or structures using CAD.
  • • Assemble documentation packages and produce drawing sets for review and approval.
  • • Consult with engineers, architects, or designers to clarify concepts and drawing requirements.
  • • Review completed drawings and estimates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards and regulations.
  • • Analyze design inputs, sketches, and models to compute and verify dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
  • • Confer with engineering, fabrication, and field staff to resolve design and drawing issues.
  • • Create detail, assembly, and layout drawings with CAD software and standard drafting practices.
  • • Measure site and design factors that affect layout, clearances, and installation.
  • • Manage project files, templates, and drawing libraries in CAD/PDM systems and record job data.
  • • Assist in the design and layout of building, mechanical, civil, or electrical systems under engineer direction.
  • • Produce base plans and master layouts to scale showing relationships, specifications, and dimensions.
  • • Review scopes, work orders, or RFIs to determine drawing deliverables and priorities.
  • • Explain drawings to production, fabrication, or construction teams and issue revisions as needed.
  • • Interpret specifications and manuals and coordinate with vendors or design staff to resolve discrepancies.
  • • Generate plots, PDFs, and reproductions and ensure drawing sets meet company and client standards.
  • • Export models and drawings for CNC, BIM coordination, 3D printing, or plotting as required.
  • • Configure CAD standards, layers, styles, and scripts; run checks to validate final layouts.
  • • Coordinate and mentor junior drafters and support adherence to drafting standards.
  • • Compare CAD models and drawings with design intent and perform conversions, redesigns, or revisions.
  • • Determine drawing sequence, sheet organization, and presentation methods, such as orthographic, isometric, or 3D views.
  • • Review blueprints and client requirements and coordinate with shop or field personnel on fabrication or installation details.
  • • Conduct site visits to collect field measurements and create as-built drawings and sketches.
  • • Select standard hardware, hole sizes, and tolerances per applicable standards for manufacturability.
  • • Develop layout drawings, sections, and details for fixtures, jigs, supports, or installations.
  • • Prepare notes, schedules, legends, and charts to accompany drawings and communicate design data.
  • • Create and update title blocks, revision histories, and drawing metadata; maintain version control.
  • • Train team members on CAD tools, workflows, and drawing practices.
  • • Prepare and interpret specifications and perform basic quantity takeoffs for areas, volumes, and weights.
  • • Assist in coordinating workloads, quality checks, and deadlines across the drafting team.
  • • Use CAD software, BIM tools, and traditional drafting references to produce accurate technical drawings.
