Description
Install gypsum drywall panels on interior walls and ceilings of buildings. Measure, cut, and fit boards to layouts; fasten to wood or metal framing; and prepare openings for fixtures. May assemble light-gauge framing, furring, and insulation, and coordinate with drywall finishers and other trades.
- • Read blueprints and specifications to determine layouts, materials, and installation methods.
- • Measure and mark layouts using tape measures, squares, levels, and chalk lines.
- • Cut drywall panels to size and shape with utility knives, saws, or routers.
- • Fit and fasten drywall to wood or metal framing using screws, nails, or adhesives.
- • Hang drywall on walls and ceilings, using lifts or hoists to position panels safely.
- • Measure and cut openings in panels for outlets, windows, vents, and plumbing fixtures.
- • Trim rough edges and shave board to maintain tight, even joints.
- • Assemble and install metal or wood studs, tracks, and furring as required.
- • Cut and screw together metal channels to build ceiling or partition frames per plans.
- • Inspect framing, furring, and substrates for plumb, level, and alignment using levels.
- • Cut metal or wood framing and trim to size with appropriate cutting tools.
- • Install horizontal and vertical studs so wallboard can be attached to interior walls.
- • Install furring strips or channels to mount drywall over masonry or uneven surfaces.
- • Install blanket insulation and vapor barriers in walls and ceilings as specified.
- • Install moisture-, mold-, fire-, or sound-rated drywall per code and specifications.
- • Coordinate work sequencing and handoff with drywall finishers and other trades.
- • Install metal corner bead, J-bead, and trim at edges and openings when required.
- • Attach resilient channels or sound isolation components as specified.
- • Remove existing drywall, plaster, or paneling and dispose of debris safely.
- • Stock, stage, and secure materials; maintain tools and follow safety procedures.
