Description
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in a designated academic discipline; develop curricula and assessments; advise and mentor students; and contribute to scholarship, service, and institutional governance. Includes faculty primarily focused on teaching as well as those who combine teaching with research and creative activity.
- • Evaluate and grade students' coursework, projects, and exams.
- • Prepare syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and other course materials.
- • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom and online discussions.
- • Prepare and deliver lectures, labs, and seminars to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- • Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or supervise others who do.
- • Maintain attendance, grades, and other required academic records.
- • Plan, assess, and revise curricula, course content, materials, and instructional methods.
- • Hold regular office hours to advise and support students.
- • Advise students on academic planning, research opportunities, internships, and career paths.
- • Supervise undergraduate and graduate teaching, internship, practicum, and research work.
- • Select and obtain textbooks, software, and instructional supplies.
- • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, pedagogy, and scholarly initiatives.
- • Conduct scholarly research or creative activity and disseminate findings in journals, books, or conferences.
- • Participate in student recruitment, registration, orientation, and placement activities.
- • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and governance bodies.
- • Compile reading lists and other learning resources for outside study.
- • Advise and mentor student organizations and honor societies.
- • Engage in campus, community, and professional outreach events.
- • Perform administrative duties such as program coordination, assessment, or serving as department chair.
- • Write grant proposals to secure external or internal funding for research or teaching.
- • Provide professional consulting or community expertise related to the discipline.
- • Stay current in the discipline and in teaching technologies through literature, workshops, and conferences.
