Description
Pilot and navigate fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters on on-demand, non-scheduled charter flights for passengers or cargo. Plan and execute trips under Part 135/91, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality client service. Requires a Commercial Pilot certificate, typically with instrument privileges; excludes scheduled airline operations.
- • Conduct thorough preflight inspections of airframe, engines, avionics, and safety equipment.
- • Review weather, NOTAMs, TFRs, and airport conditions to determine go/no-go decisions.
- • Compute weight and balance, runway performance, and fuel requirements for each leg.
- • Plan IFR/VFR routes using aeronautical charts, navigation systems, and company/FAA regulations.
- • File, activate, and amend flight plans with ATC or flight service as needed.
- • Obtain clearances and coordinate taxi, takeoff, and arrival instructions via radio.
- • Start engines, operate controls, and pilot aircraft in accordance with SOPs and regulations.
- • Use instruments to fly safely in IMC, at night, and in reduced visibility.
- • Monitor engine performance, fuel state, and aircraft systems; manage abnormalities.
- • Request altitude, route, or speed changes to optimize safety, efficiency, and ride quality.
- • Select routes and altitudes that provide the fastest, safest, and smoothest flights.
- • Deliver passenger safety briefings and ensure cabin security and comfort.
- • Verify baggage and cargo are properly loaded, secured, and within weight limits.
- • Coordinate with dispatch, FBOs, and ground crews for fuel, catering, deicing, and services.
- • Adjust fuel loads, schedules, alternates, or destinations in response to changing conditions.
- • Maintain accurate flight logs, manifests, trip sheets, and regulatory records.
- • Comply with Part 135/91 rules, company SOPs, and duty/rest and flight time limits.
- • Arrange, document, and supervise aircraft servicing, discrepancies, and maintenance actions.
- • Perform postflight inspections and secure the aircraft at destination or overnight.
- • Supervise and coordinate with other crew members; serve as PIC or SIC as assigned.
- • Support training and standardization of company procedures when designated.
- • Manage international procedures, customs, eAPIS, and permits when applicable.
