Description
Support commercial diving operations from the surface by preparing and operating dive systems; managing umbilicals and communications; monitoring safety, documentation, and logistics; and performing rigging and deck operations to enable inspections, construction, salvage, and maintenance.
  • • Maintain constant communications with divers and relay instructions to the surface team.
  • • Monitor dive times, depths, gas supply, and decompression schedules.
  • • Inspect, assemble, and maintain helmets, masks, umbilicals, harnesses, and gauges.
  • • Set up and operate air panels, compressors, hot-water units, and emergency gear.
  • • Assist divers suiting up and entering/exiting the water; manage umbilicals and lifelines.
  • • Brief divers on scope, hazards, conditions, and contingency plans; capture JSA sign-offs.
  • • Prepare, test, and stage tools, welding/cutting gear, and NDT equipment.
  • • Operate topside video, sonar, communications, and data logging systems.
  • • Rig loads; attach tag lines; operate winches, davits, LARS, and cranes.
  • • Guide placement of rigging, pilings, sandbags, and materials per instructions.
  • • Record dive logs, profiles, gas usage, and equipment records.
  • • Assist with cleaning and minor repair of piping, valves, and strainers from topside.
  • • Support salvage, recovery, and cleanup by staging gear and coordinating logistics.
  • • Maintain deck housekeeping, barricades, and environmental protections.
  • • Serve as standby/rescue diver when qualified; maintain emergency readiness.
  • • Calibrate NDT instruments and capture measurements while divers work.
  • • Prepare samples, photos, and video; label and archive deliverables.
  • • Conduct pre- and post-dive checks; troubleshoot and report equipment defects.
  • • Maintain rigging inventories and support offshore platform and pipeline work.
  • • Coordinate with vessel crew for positioning and safe launch/recovery windows.
  • • Post and manage permits, dive flags, and regulatory notifications.
  • • Train and mentor new tenders in deck procedures and safety.
  • • Clear debris and obstructions from launch and recovery areas using deck tools.
  • • Enforce company, client, and regulatory standards, including LOTO when applicable.
