Description
Wind wire coils for transformers, motors, generators, and control equipment using winding machines and hand tools, following work orders and specifications.
  • • Operate and tend coil-winding machines to produce wire coils for electrical components.
  • • Review work orders, drawings, and specifications to determine wire gauge, turns, and materials.
  • • Select and load wire, bobbins, cores, and related materials onto winding equipment.
  • • Set up tensioners, guides, and machine parameters; adjust speed and counts to meet requirements.
  • • Cut, strip, and form wire leads at coil ends using hand tools.
  • • Attach, secure, and trim insulation, sleeving, and leads as required.
  • • Line slots with sheet insulation and insert coils into stators or cores.
  • • Monitor winding operations; verify turns, tension, and alignment; stop machines to remove completed coils.
  • • Inspect and test coils for continuity, resistance, and dimensions; record test results.
  • • Record production data, materials used, and lot traceability on forms or in systems.
  • • Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on winding equipment; report malfunctions.
