Description
Assess and manage patients with neurological and musculoskeletal dysfunction using chiropractic and functional neurology methods. Provide spinal and extremity adjustments and targeted neurorehabilitation (e.g., vestibular, oculomotor, proprioceptive) to improve nervous system function.
- • Perform spinal and extremity adjustments to influence neuromusculoskeletal function.
- • Conduct comprehensive neurological exams, including cranial nerve, reflex, sensory, coordination, and gait assessments.
- • Evaluate vestibulo-ocular and oculomotor function using bedside tests and tools such as VOG/VNG and saccadic metrics.
- • Diagnose functional neurological disorders and musculoskeletal contributors through history, examination, observation, and appropriate imaging review.
- • Design individualized neurorehabilitation plans with vestibular, oculomotor, proprioceptive, balance, and cognitive exercises.
- • Maintain detailed case histories and track objective outcomes to guide care.
- • Educate patients on conditions, home neurorehab exercises, ergonomics, sleep, stress management, and nutrition.
- • Recommend and coordinate diagnostic procedures such as x-rays, MRI/CT, posturography, vestibular testing, or laboratory studies as indicated.
- • Collaborate with and refer to neurologists, primary care providers, physical or occupational therapists, and other specialists when warranted.
- • Utilize adjunctive supports or modalities, including taping, braces, and soft-tissue techniques, to aid neurological and biomechanical function.
- • Monitor for red flags, manage concussions and dizziness conservatively, and establish safe return-to-activity plans.
