Description
Create, update, and present maps and spatial data for legal, social, environmental, educational, and design needs. Compile, analyze, and interpret geographic information from surveys, aerial and satellite imagery, and existing records using GIS. Set projections, scales, and layouts; design symbology; and ensure accuracy and usability of map products.
  • • Determine map content, projection, scale, and layout; set production specifications and oversee output.
  • • Compile and integrate data for map preparation from imagery, surveys, notes, records, and existing maps.
  • • Digitize and delineate features from aerial and satellite imagery within GIS.
  • • Identify and reference geodetic control; transform coordinates and elevations as needed.
  • • Build, maintain, and document spatial databases and metadata.
  • • Revise and update existing maps and layers to correct errors and reflect changes.
  • • Inspect and QA/QC map products for completeness, accuracy, and cartographic standards.
  • • Select appropriate source materials and imagery based on accuracy and currency guidelines.
  • • Analyze ground survey data, reports, and remote sensing to produce topographic and thematic maps.
  • • Prepare maps, charts, tables, and cartographic visualizations using GIS and design software.
  • • Study legal records and plats to establish and depict property and administrative boundaries.
  • • Conduct field checks or coordinate ground-truthing to verify map features.
  • • Develop cartographic styles, symbols, and templates to support consistent map production.
  • • Collaborate with stakeholders to define mapping requirements and deliverables.
