Description
Diagnose, repair, and adjust film and digital cameras, restoring proper operation of shutters, lenses, viewfinders, electronics, and related mechanisms for consumer and professional use.
  • • Diagnose camera malfunctions using test shots, error codes, and manufacturer specifications.
  • • Disassemble cameras to access faults using precision hand tools.
  • • Adjust and align shutters, apertures, rangefinders, viewfinders, and lens mounts.
  • • Calibrate shutter speeds, aperture timing, autofocus, and light meters with timing and calibration tools.
  • • Clean and lubricate camera mechanisms; clean optics and sensors using approved materials.
  • • Measure parts and settings to verify tolerances, such as shutter speed and meter accuracy.
  • • Test image quality, focus accuracy, diaphragm alignment, mounts, and film transport or sensor operation.
  • • Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and bulletins to plan repairs.
  • • Replace or install components such as shutters, sensors, circuit boards, flex cables, grips, seals, and door assemblies.
  • • Perform soldering, wiring, and minor fabrication of small mechanical parts as required.
  • • Reassemble cameras and perform functional and safety checks after repair.
  • • Document diagnostics, parts used, adjustments, and test results.
  • • Order replacement parts and maintain stock of common materials.
  • • Advise customers on maintenance, firmware updates, and cost-effective repairs or upgrades.
