Description
Machine, fabricate, and fit precision components for cameras and photographic equipment; repair and adjust mechanical assemblies for still, video, and motion-picture systems using manual/CNC tools and precision metrology.
  • • Calibrate and verify shutter timing, diaphragm operation, and lens carrier travel using timing and metrology instruments.
  • • Disassemble cameras and subassemblies to access worn or damaged parts.
  • • Adjust and fit rangefinders, shutters, focus drives, and lens mounts after machining or repair.
  • • Clean, deburr, and lubricate machined parts and camera mechanisms.
  • • Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances and functional settings.
  • • Test assembled mechanisms—focus drives, diaphragm alignment, lens mounts, and media transport—using precision fixtures and gauges.
  • • Inspect cameras and components to diagnose mechanical wear, misalignment, or breakage using specifications and diagnostic tools.
  • • Requisition bar stock, fasteners, bushings, bearings, and replacement components.
  • • Read and interpret drawings, GD&T, wiring diagrams, and repair instructions to plan setups, sequences, and tooling.
  • • Fabricate, modify, and finish mechanical camera parts using manual/CNC lathes, mills, grinders, and precision hand tools.
  • • Set up machine tools, select cutters, and determine speeds and feeds for required materials and tolerances.
  • • Assemble and fit camera housings, brackets, frames, and mechanisms per blueprints using hand and bench tools.
  • • Record measurements, setups, and test results; document fabrication and rework processes.
  • • Lay out reference points, datums, and dimensions on stock prior to machining.
  • • Recommend design changes, material selections, or tolerance adjustments to improve manufacturability and performance.
  • • Install machined components, threaded inserts, bushings, and fasteners in camera housings and mounts.
