Description
Lead and manage a biofuels/biodiesel R&D laboratory, coordinating research on alternative feedstocks and process technologies with near-term commercial potential; oversee staff, safety, quality systems, budgets, equipment, and data to deliver reproducible, scalable results.
- • Oversee development of lab-scale models of industrial biofuels processes (e.g., fermentation) and verify scalability.
- • Implement and manage LIMS/ELN and computational tools to support biofuels R&D and data integrity.
- • Supervise, train, and mentor technical staff conducting biofuels experiments and development.
- • Review, approve, and schedule experimental plans and SOPs for biofuels projects.
- • Compile, review, and present R&D reports and metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
- • Coordinate protein engineering and functional analysis workflows for feedstock processing.
- • Manage development and validation of separation and solvent/product recovery methods.
- • Oversee methods to recover ethanol and other fuels from complex liquid and gas streams.
- • Establish and monitor assays to estimate biomass pretreatment efficiency and quality.
- • Plan and supervise solvent and product recovery experiments in laboratory and pilot settings.
- • Coordinate applied research on transport, mixing, filtration, distillation, fermentation, extraction, and separation.
- • Ensure safe, compliant execution of chemical conversion processes (e.g., esterification, transesterification, hydrogenation).
- • Schedule and oversee experiments on biomass and pretreatment technologies.
- • Manage trials of alternative feedstock fermentation processes and track performance KPIs.
- • Ensure rigorous analysis, documentation, and archiving of data for fluid dynamics, water treatment, and extraction studies.
- • Oversee biodiesel/biofuels prototyping, pilot runs, and cross-functional technology transfer.
- • Prioritize and recommend new products, processes, or applications based on laboratory findings.
- • Maintain EHS compliance, equipment calibration and maintenance, procurement, inventory, budgets, and vendor management.
