Description
Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain biomedical and clinical equipment at customer sites, applying engineering and computer systems knowledge to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operation. Support hospitals and labs with device integration, user training, and lifecycle management of medical devices and information systems.
- • Perform on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning of biomedical equipment and systems.
- • Conduct acceptance testing, electrical safety checks, and performance verification.
- • Execute preventive maintenance, calibration, and software or firmware updates.
- • Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and verify corrective actions using test equipment.
- • Maintain detailed service reports, work orders, and regulatory documentation in CMMS.
- • Train clinicians and biomedical staff on proper operation, basic care, and safety.
- • Advise hospital administrators and clinical engineering on equipment selection, upgrades, and lifecycle planning.
- • Integrate devices with hospital networks and information systems (e.g., HL7, DICOM, PACS, EMR).
- • Harden and patch device software, implement cybersecurity settings, and manage user access with IT.
- • Coordinate spare parts logistics, RMAs, and warranty returns with suppliers.
- • Manage service schedules, prioritize calls, and meet SLAs and uptime targets.
- • Perform site surveys for power, gases, networking, environmental, and shielding requirements.
- • Develop or refine installation and maintenance SOPs, checklists, and job aids.
- • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, NFPA 99, and hospital policies.
- • Support audits and complaint handling through accurate records and traceability.
- • Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product support to escalate complex issues and provide field feedback.
- • Analyze service data to identify reliability trends and opportunities to reduce MTTR and cost.
- • Recommend configuration changes, accessories, and PM intervals to improve safety and performance.
- • Conduct root-cause analysis and follow-up verification testing after repairs or adverse events.
- • Coordinate multi-vendor and subcontractor activities during installations and repairs.
- • Provide remote technical support and on-call coverage as required.
- • Set up and validate clinical workflows, including IQ/OQ/PQ or equivalent qualification protocols.
- • Perform decontamination and follow infection control, ESD, and lockout/tagout practices.
- • Implement radiation, laser, or high-voltage safety procedures for applicable modalities.
- • Prepare project plans and timelines for installations, retrofits, and relocations.
- • Maintain accurate device inventories, firmware baselines, and network configurations.
- • Communicate technical information and status updates clearly to customers and internal teams.
- • Review service processes and propose continuous improvements to tools, documentation, and parts kits.
- • Stay current with product bulletins, recalls, standards, and industry best practices.
- • Support demonstrations, site trials, and pre-sale evaluations as the technical subject-matter expert.
