Description
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in interior design—studio, space planning, human factors, lighting, materials/FF&E, building codes, sustainability, and digital visualization—while engaging in a combination of teaching, research, and creative practice.
- • Evaluate and grade studio projects, portfolios, and research in interior design.
- • Prepare and deliver lectures on interior design theory, space planning, human factors, lighting, materials/FF&E, digital tools, and building codes.
- • Develop course materials, including syllabi, project briefs, rubrics, and handouts.
- • Lead critiques, seminars, and discussions on design process, precedent, and ethics.
- • Plan, assess, and revise interior design curricula and instructional methods aligned with CIDA standards.

- • Maintain attendance, grades, learning assessments, and accreditation documentation.

- • Conduct research or creative scholarship in interior design and disseminate findings through publications, exhibitions, or digital media.
- • Supervise student teaching assistants, internships, community-engaged studios, and research projects.
- • Advise on academic planning, NCIDQ readiness, licensure pathways, and internships or jobs.
- • Collaborate with design, architecture, and engineering faculty on interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship.
- • Curate reading lists and material library resources for projects and seminars.
- • Serve on departmental and college committees, including curriculum, assessment, and accreditation.
- • Participate in recruitment, portfolio reviews, orientation, and job placement events.
- • Select textbooks, software licenses, and studio supplies, and manage the materials library.
- • Seek external funding through grants, industry partnerships, or sponsored studios.
- • Provide professional consulting or design services to firms, nonprofits, or community partners.
- • Perform administrative duties, such as program coordination or area leadership.
- • Advise student design organizations and competition teams.
- • Engage in campus outreach, public lectures, exhibitions, and community design initiatives.
