Description
Teach courses in interior design and interior architecture, including studio and lecture classes on space planning, human-centered design, materials/finishes, lighting, building codes and accessibility, digital tools, and professional practice; may combine teaching with research or creative practice.
- • Evaluate and grade studio projects, presentations, drawings, and portfolios.
- • Deliver lectures and lead studios on space planning, human factors, lighting, materials/finishes, codes, and building systems.
- • Prepare syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and project briefs.
- • Facilitate critiques, pin-ups, and class discussions.
- • Design, assess, and revise curricula to meet learning outcomes and accreditation standards (e.g., CIDA).
- • Stay current with interior design trends, codes, sustainability, accessibility, and digital tools through scholarship and conferences.
- • Maintain attendance, grades, and required student records.
- • Hold regular office hours for advising and support.
- • Create, administer, and grade exams, reviews, and juried evaluations.
- • Pursue research or creative work in interior design and disseminate results through publications or exhibits.
- • Supervise capstone studios, internships, independent studies, and research assistants.
- • Advise students on course planning, portfolios, internships, NCIDQ preparation, and careers.
- • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners on teaching, research, and community projects.
- • Curate reading lists and material references; manage the materials library.
- • Serve on departmental and institutional committees and accreditation reviews.
- • Recruit prospective students and support orientation, registration, and placement.
- • Select and procure textbooks, software, equipment, and material samples for studios.
- • Write grant proposals or secure sponsorships for labs, community projects, or scholarships.
- • Provide professional consulting or outreach services to community, government, or industry clients.
- • Perform administrative roles such as program coordination or internship coordination.
- • Advise student organizations (e.g., IIDA/ASID) and support campus and community outreach, juries, and design showcases.
