Description
Own the creative vision and design strategy for one or more games. Define pillars, systems, and the player experience; set quality bars and ensure coherence across content. Lead and develop the design team and processes, partnering with production and cross-discipline leads to deliver the vision on time and within scope.
  • • Lead competitive and audience research to inform design strategy and portfolio direction.
  • • Define acceptance criteria and QA standards for design features with QA leadership.
  • • Monitor industry trends and emerging tech; translate insights into design roadmaps.
  • • Set playtest strategy and success metrics; prioritize learnings with UXR and analytics.
  • • Critique and approve systems, levels, and features; provide actionable feedback to leads.
  • • Direct tuning goals for engagement, retention, and monetization; approve balance changes.
  • • Oversee narrative direction and writing quality; align story with design pillars.
  • • Facilitate cross-discipline feedback loops and integrate input into the design vision.
  • • Partner with production and engineering to scope, prioritize, and ensure design fidelity.
  • • Authorize and review prototypes, mock-ups, and UX flows; set quality standards.
  • • Pitch concepts and milestones to executives and studio leadership; secure alignment and greenlights.
  • • Define documentation and visualization standards; ensure teams deliver clear design specs.
  • • Oversee playtests and KPI reviews to validate the player experience against pillars.
  • • Lead design reviews, decision-making forums, and conflict resolution across teams.
  • • Establish content frameworks and guidelines for missions, progression, and challenges.
  • • Own the design bible and documentation standards; keep pillars, systems, and guidelines current.
  • • Set strategy for economies, meta, UX, and audio direction; approve key feature specs.
  • • Prioritize prototyping efforts to de-risk assumptions; evaluate results and next steps.
  • • Align design deliverables with the production plan; track risks and communicate status.
  • • Align stakeholders on online and live-service requirements; govern feature readiness.
  • • Run milestone and gate reviews; sign off on feature completeness and quality.
  • • Partner with art and audio leadership to ensure cohesive aesthetics and player feedback.
  • • Ensure comprehensive, accessible design documentation and artifacts across teams.
  • • Define game vision, pillars, and core mechanics for new titles and franchises.
  • • Recruit, mentor, and develop design talent; cultivate a high-performing design culture.
