Description
Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in animal hospitals and clinics by caring for patients, maintaining clean and sterile environments, assisting with exams, treatments, imaging, and surgery, collecting samples, providing routine post-op care, and administering oral or topical medications under supervision.
- • Prepare and label medications and fill prescriptions per veterinary orders.
- • Monitor post-surgical patients and report abnormal signs to the veterinarian.
- • Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs under veterinary direction.
- • Clean, maintain, and sterilize instruments, equipment, and packs.
- • Administer prescribed oral or topical medications and vaccines as directed.
- • Provide basic first aid and triage until the veterinarian assumes care.
- • Clean and disinfect kennels, exam rooms, and treatment or surgery areas to prevent disease spread.
- • Safely restrain animals for examinations, imaging, and procedures.

- • Walk, exercise, and provide enrichment or comfort to hospitalized animals.
- • Record patient weights, vitals, treatments, and progress in medical records.
- • Provide clients with basic home-care, medication, and nutrition instructions per veterinary guidance.
- • Perform hygiene tasks such as nail trims, bathing, and assist with dental procedures under supervision.
- • Stock and prepare exam or treatment rooms with supplies.
- • Assist with humane euthanasia procedures and aftercare following protocols.
- • Perform reception duties, including scheduling, check-in, and client communication.
- • Apply parasite control products and bathe animals to manage pests as directed.
- • Update medical records, file documents, and perform clerical tasks.
- • Process payments, maintain inventories, and help with ordering supplies.
- • Groom or clip coats as directed for patient comfort or procedures.
