Description
Provide targeted instructional and behavioral support to students with learning and related disabilities across school settings. Develop and implement IEPs, collaborate with educators and families, and ensure access to the curriculum through accommodations, interventions, and assistive technology to build academic, social, and functional skills.
  • • Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions in literacy, numeracy, and executive skills.
  • • Co-teach in general education classrooms to differentiate instruction.
  • • Develop and implement IEPs with measurable, standards-aligned goals.
  • • Conduct screenings and diagnostic assessments to identify student needs.
  • • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on data.
  • • Adapt and modify general education curriculum and materials.
  • • Implement accommodations per IEP/504, including testing supports.
  • • Use evidence-based strategies to build language, cognition, memory, and learning readiness.
  • • Teach self-advocacy, organization, and study skills.
  • • Support positive behavior using PBIS, behavior contracts, and de-escalation.
  • • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives to students and families.
  • • Collaborate with general and special educators to design and revise support plans.
  • • Consult with related service providers (SLP, OT, PT, counselors) to integrate therapies.
  • • Facilitate IEP meetings with parents, administrators, and specialists.
  • • Maintain accurate, timely special education records and compliance documentation.
  • • Prepare progress reports aligned to IEP goals and report cards.
  • • Train, schedule, and supervise paraprofessionals or teacher assistants.
  • • Create visual supports, schedules, and organizational systems for students.
  • • Teach socially appropriate communication and peer interaction skills.
  • • Provide assistive technology and AAC support, and train students in their use.
  • • Ensure safe use and care of classroom and adaptive equipment.
  • • Organize and manage a resource room or learning lab for targeted support.
  • • Coordinate student inclusion and transitions between settings or grade levels.
  • • Plan engaging, hands-on learning activities and projects.
  • • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about progress and strategies for home.
  • • Present content using multimedia, interactive tools, and accessible formats.
  • • Attend professional development to maintain certification and expand expertise.
  • • Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans in collaboration with teams.
  • • Control and track inventory of instructional and adaptive materials.
  • • Create and enforce classroom routines that promote safety and learning.
  • • Collaborate on school-wide MTSS/RTI processes and data meetings.
  • • Administer curriculum-based and standardized measures as appropriate.
  • • Organize and display student work and data walls to highlight growth.
  • • Coordinate accommodations for district and state assessments.
  • • Prepare lesson plans, unit plans, and scaffolded materials aligned to standards.
  • • Support student independence in daily school routines and transitions.
