- • Drive CDL and light trucks to transport crews, jet/vac units, and materials; set up traffic control for work zones.
- • Communicate with supervisors and crews via radio or mobile devices to coordinate field work.
- • Prepare and maintain work orders, inspection logs, and maintenance/repair records in CMMS.
- • Operate storm drain cleaning equipment, including combo jet/vac trucks, rodders, and bucket machines.
- • Ensure repaired storm pipe joints and structures are watertight before backfilling.
- • Withdraw cables or hoses and assess debris (sediment, roots, trash) indicating clogged or damaged lines.
- • Install appropriate cutting heads and jet nozzles to match pipe size and material.
- • Measure and mark excavation limits using locators, tapes, and push cameras.
- • Locate defects with CCTV, sondes, and dye/smoke tests; mark dig points.
- • Clean and repair storm drains, culverts, catch basins, manholes, and outfalls.
- • Feed rods or jet hoses into storm lines; adjust tools to pipe size and condition.
- • Service and perform minor repairs on jet/vac units, CCTV gear, pumps, and hand tools.
- • Inspect catch basins, manholes, inlets, and outfalls to find blockages, illicit discharges, or defects.
- • Cut out damaged storm pipe, remove failed sections, and install sleeves or replacement pipe.
- • Excavate storm lines and structures by hand when needed, following trench safety practices.
- • Saw-cut and break pavement to access buried storm infrastructure.
- • Backfill and compact excavations; restore surfaces to standards.
- • Requisition tools, materials, and parts; maintain inventory.
- • Maintain stormwater BMPs such as detention ponds, bioswales, inlet protection, and hydrodynamic separators.
- • Respond to stormwater spills or backups; contain, recover, and clean per protocols.
- • Collect stormwater samples and perform dry-weather outfall screenings for MS4/NPDES compliance.
