Description
Apply remote sensing technologies to support scientists, engineers, and planners in natural resources, urban planning, and security. Prepare flight plans and configure sensors for airborne or satellite data collection.
- • Collect ground-truth data using GPS/GNSS, cameras, and mobile devices.
- • Verify the integrity and accuracy of remote sensing datasets and analyses.
- • Prepare documentation and presentations with charts, photos, and maps.
- • Monitor data quality during acquisition and adjust equipment as needed.
- • Build image mosaics and orthorectified products with processing software.
- • Integrate remotely sensed data with GIS and other geospatial layers.
- • Evaluate project requirements to select sensors, platforms, and software, including image types and resolutions.
- • Apply geometric, radiometric, and atmospheric corrections to raw data.
- • Calibrate and test sensors and data collection equipment.
- • Consult with scientists, surveyors, cartographers, engineers, or clients to determine project needs.
- • Optimize image displays, classifications, and processing parameters for analysis.
- • Acquire geospatial data via aerial, LiDAR, radar, satellite, or thermal systems.
- • Support agricultural applications to reduce environmental impacts using remote sensing.
- • Collect data for forest monitoring and carbon tracking related to environmental change.
- • Provide remote sensing inputs for environmental modeling, such as surface water or dust detection.
- • Prepare flight plans and configure sensors for airborne missions.
- • Participate in planning and development of mapping and remote sensing projects.
- • Maintain records and metadata for surveys and imagery.
- • Document methods and write technical reports.
- • Develop or customize processing scripts and workflows for image analysis.
- • Develop and maintain geospatial databases and data catalogs.
