Description
Operate a solid waste and recycling transfer station by receiving, inspecting, and sorting materials; identifying and isolating hazards; operating scales and heavy equipment; and loading, consolidating, and shipping materials in compliance with safety and regulations.
  • • Operate compactors, balers, and conveyors to consolidate materials.
  • • Weigh inbound and outbound vehicles and issue scale tickets.
  • • Inspect loads for prohibited or hazardous materials and enforce acceptance rules.
  • • Direct customers and haulers on the tipping floor and manage traffic flow.
  • • Sort recyclables and contaminants into appropriate containers.
  • • Operate front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and pallet jacks to move materials.
  • • Load transfer trailers or containers to target weights and secure loads.
  • • Record quantities and types of materials received, transferred, or rejected.
  • • Recover refrigerants from appliances or stage units for certified removal.
  • • Clean and maintain the tipping floor, yard, bins, and public drop-off areas.
  • • Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on station and sorting equipment.
  • • Separate and stage metals, such as copper, brass, and aluminum, for recycling.
  • • Follow safety procedures, use PPE, and respond to spills or incidents.
  • • Provide customer service, collect fees, and answer disposal or recycling questions.
