Description
Apply agronomic science and precision agriculture to improve crop productivity and sustainability. Integrate soil, plant, and environmental data—including GIS/GPS and remote sensing—to diagnose constraints and deliver site-specific recommendations for variety selection, fertilization, crop protection, and irrigation.
- • Use remote sensing imagery to assess canopy vigor, nutrient deficiencies, stress, and variability.
- • Delineate management zones and sampling grids based on soils, terrain, drainage, and productivity.
- • Maintain agronomic records and prepare reports summarizing field performance and profitability.
- • Educate growers on precision ag tools, data interpretation, and best management practices.
- • Advise on adopting or upgrading GPS guidance, sensors, and data platforms.
- • Analyze weather patterns and forecasts to adjust agronomic recommendations.
- • Compare yield maps with input applications and soil data to refine management plans.
- • Ensure compliance with environmental stewardship and nutrient management regulations.
- • Participate in advancing agronomic decision-support, such as models and automated scouting tools.
- • Conduct soil, plant tissue, and water sampling and interpret results to guide fertility programs.
- • Develop site-specific nutrient management plans using yield, soil test, and remote-sensing data.
- • Scout fields to diagnose weeds, insects, diseases, and abiotic stress.
- • Recommend crop varieties, hybrids, seeding rates, and rotations by management zone.
- • Create and interpret yield maps and agronomic layers in GIS to inform decisions.
- • Design variable-rate prescriptions for seed, fertilizer, lime, and amendments.
- • Advise on pesticide selection, timing, and resistance management in compliance with labels and regulations.
- • Optimize irrigation scheduling and variable-rate irrigation using soil moisture and weather data.
- • Establish and analyze on-farm trials to evaluate products and practices.
- • Monitor crop growth stages to time inputs and harvest for maximum yield and quality.
- • Collaborate with equipment and technology providers to implement prescriptions and resolve issues.
- • Calibrate and verify application accuracy and planter performance in the field.
- • Apply integrated pest management to reduce chemical use and environmental impacts.
