Description
Provides one-on-one assistance to an individual with disabilities or illness, supporting activities of daily living (e.g., feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility). May also help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry. Work occurs in settings based on the client’s needs, such as the home, workplace, community locations, or a daytime nonresidential facility.
  • • Perform healthcare-related tasks, such as monitoring vital signs and medications, under the direction of registered nurses or physical therapists.
  • • Provide bedside and personal care, including hygiene and ambulation assistance.
  • • Prepare and maintain records of client progress and services; report condition changes to a supervisor.
  • • Perform light housekeeping, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, dishes, and errands.
  • • Offer companionship and personal care during incapacitation, family disruption, or recovery, supporting adjustment to new routines.
  • • Instruct or advise clients on household cleanliness, utilities, hygiene, nutrition, or infant care.
  • • Plan, shop for, or prepare nutritious meals, or assist families with meal planning and preparation.
  • • Participate in case reviews with the care team to evaluate needs and plan ongoing services.
  • • Transport clients to appointments or outings using a motor vehicle.
  • • Train family members to provide basic bedside care.
  • • Provide communication assistance, such as typing correspondence or obtaining information.
