Description
Assess, diagnose, and manage binocular vision and ocular motility disorders using specialized testing and nonsurgical therapies, collaborating with ophthalmic teams to optimize visual function.
- • Assist ophthalmologists with diagnostic procedures such as ultrasonography, fundus photography, and tonometry.
- • Provide nonsurgical interventions, including prisms, corrective lenses, occlusion therapy, drops, and fusion or stereopsis exercises for strabismus and related conditions.
- • Develop individualized nonsurgical treatment plans for strabismus, nystagmus, amblyopia, and other visual disorders.
- • Perform diagnostic tests such as ocular motility and cover testing, visual acuity, lensometry, retinoscopy, color vision, and stereoacuity assessments.
- • Examine patients with ocular motility, binocular vision, amblyopia, or strabismus complaints.
- • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage binocular vision and abnormal eye movement disorders.
- • Interpret clinical and diagnostic test results to guide care.
- • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and home therapy.
- • Refer patients to ophthalmic surgeons or other physicians when indicated.
- • Use age-appropriate and disability-adapted testing and communication techniques.
- • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other specialists in co-managing conditions that affect visual function.
- • Prepare detailed diagnostic and treatment reports for referring clinicians and therapists.
- • Participate in clinical research projects.
- • Present or publish scientific findings.
- • Conduct vision screenings for children in schools or community health settings.
- • Provide training in orthoptic evaluation and therapy to students, residents, and other health professionals.
