Description
Diagnose, manage, and treat eye diseases and visual conditions with an emphasis on therapeutic pharmaceutical care. Perform comprehensive eye exams, prescribe and monitor medications, fit corrective lenses, and provide pre- and post-operative co-management with ophthalmology.
  • • Perform comprehensive eye examinations using diagnostic pharmaceuticals and advanced instrumentation.
  • • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, dry eye, uveitis, keratitis, and conjunctivitis.
  • • Prescribe and monitor topical and, where permitted, oral therapeutic medications.
  • • Develop treatment plans and adjust therapy based on clinical response and test results.
  • • Remove superficial ocular foreign bodies and perform minor in-office procedures (e.g., punctal occlusion) as permitted.
  • • Order, perform, and interpret OCT, visual fields, fundus imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
  • • Provide pre- and post-operative care and co-manage surgical cases with ophthalmologists.
  • • Educate patients on medication use, disease management, visual hygiene, and ocular safety.
  • • Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and specialty lenses.
  • • Triage and treat urgent eye conditions and coordinate referrals for advanced or surgical care.
