Description
Support attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting and cite-checking documents, managing case files and deadlines, coordinating filings and schedules, and assisting with hearings and client or court communications.
- • Attend court hearings, depositions, or meetings to observe or record case information.
- • Communicate with opposing counsel, clients, and court staff on case management or procedural requirements.
- • Collaborate with attorneys on legal questions, document interpretation, and drafting strategy.
- • Draft, edit, or proofread motions, memoranda, briefs, citations, and correspondence.
- • Track legal developments and advise attorneys when cases are affected.
- • Participate in conferences with attorneys, clients, experts, or witnesses.
- • Prepare briefs, legal memoranda, and issue summaries, including recommendations.
- • Research statutes, regulations, case law, legislative history, and secondary sources.
- • Review complaints, petitions, discovery, motions, or other pleadings to identify issues.
- • Monitor dockets, deadlines, and tasks to ensure timely progress and compliance.
- • Organize and verify case files, exhibits, and other materials for completeness and order.
- • Coordinate attorney calendars, meetings, and travel related to cases.
- • Enter and update information in e-filing, calendaring, and case management systems.
- • Maintain research banks, templates, and cite libraries; update authorities.
- • Assist with hearing or trial preparation, including exhibit lists and witness binders.
- • Prepare periodic case status reports and summaries.
- • Respond to attorney or staff questions on general legal issues.
- • Mentor or oversee interns, externs, or volunteers assigned to the team.
