Research and interpret the past to engage the public at historic sites, museums, and parks through tours, demonstrations, exhibits, and digital content. Use primary and secondary sources to develop accurate, inclusive narratives and ensure the historical authenticity of programs, settings, and materials.

  • • Collaborate with curators, educators, and collections staff on object use and handling.
  • • Follow safety and preservation protocols when handling artifacts and maintaining historic settings.
  • • Train, coordinate, and mentor volunteers or docents assisting with programs.
  • • Engage schools and community groups; conduct outreach to promote site programs.
  • • Coordinate logistics for programs and special events, including schedules and setup.
  • • Evaluate visitor engagement and learning; adjust content based on feedback.
  • • Coordinate translation or provide multilingual resources to improve accessibility.
  • • Compile biographical sketches and storylines to personalize interpretation.
  • • Recommend artifacts, props, or media to enhance interpretive effectiveness.
  • • Maintain records and reports on attendance, program delivery, and research sources.
