Description
Evaluate hearing to select, fit, program, and service hearing instruments. Administer and interpret basic audiometric tests, take ear impressions, and modify earmolds. Verify device performance, counsel clients, assess outcomes, and refer to audiologists or physicians when indicated.
- • Select and administer hearing assessments within scope, such as air, bone, and speech audiometry, to inform amplification needs.
- • Perform otoscopy and basic screenings, including pure-tone and immittance, to determine candidacy and need for referral.
- • Take ear impressions and create or modify earmolds and hearing aid shells.
- • Recommend, select, and fit hearing aids and assistive listening devices based on test results and lifestyle needs.
- • Program, adjust, and verify hearing aids using real-ear measurements and outcome measures.
- • Train clients and caregivers to use, clean, and care for hearing instruments and ALDs.
- • Provide counseling on communication strategies, expectations, and hearing conservation.
- • Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on hearing aids and accessories.
- • Monitor device performance and client satisfaction through follow-up appointments and efficacy assessments.
- • Document case histories, test results, fittings, and service records in accordance with regulations and payer requirements.
- • Identify medical red flags and refer clients to audiologists or physicians when appropriate.
