Description
Install and repair fences and gates using hand and power tools.
- • Establish fence location and verify no underground utilities are present.
- • Align posts by line or sight and verify plumb with levels or plumb bobs.
- • Blast rock to facilitate posthole digging, following safety protocols and regulations.
- • Dig postholes with spades, posthole diggers, or power augers.
- • Set metal or wooden posts upright in postholes.
- • Discuss fencing needs with customers and provide estimates.
- • Mix and pour concrete or tamp soil to secure posts.
- • Fabricate rails by cutting lumber or metal tubing to length.
- • Attach top and bottom rails to posts or insert into slots.
- • Measure and lay out fence lines; mark posthole locations per plans.
- • Stretch wire, mesh, or chain-link between posts and fasten to frames.
- • Attach rail supports to posts using hand tools.
- • Assemble gates and hang them in position.
- • Connect metal top rails with sleeves to complete fence runs.
- • Insert metal tubing through rail supports.
- • Install bottom rails or tension wire to form fence frames.
- • Nail pointed slats to rails to build picket fences.
- • Construct and repair barriers, retaining walls, trellises, and related structures.
- • Weld metal components with portable gas welding equipment.
