Description
Provide daily care for farm livestock and poultry, ensuring humane handling, health, and productivity. Duties include feeding and watering, monitoring animals, cleaning and maintaining housing, assisting with breeding, birthing, and milking, administering medications and vaccines, moving and identifying animals, and keeping accurate records. Operate farm equipment and maintain facilities to support animal well-being.
  • • Feed and water animals and monitor intake and body condition.
  • • Mix and distribute feed, supplements, and medications as directed.
  • • Check animals daily for illness, injury, or abnormal behavior.
  • • Administer vaccines, dewormers, and prescribed treatments; coordinate veterinary care.
  • • Clean and disinfect barns, stalls, pens, coops, and equipment.
  • • Maintain and repair feeders, waterers, fences, gates, and shelters.
  • • Move, sort, and load animals safely using low-stress handling.
  • • Herd livestock between pens, barns, and pastures as needed.
  • • Assist with breeding, heat detection, artificial insemination, and births.
  • • Milk dairy animals and clean and maintain milking equipment.
  • • Weigh animals and record growth, feed use, production, and health data.
  • • Tag, brand, or otherwise identify animals; trim hooves and shear or clip as needed.
  • • Implement biosecurity, sanitation, and humane handling protocols.
  • • Operate tractors, UTVs, and loaders to deliver feed and bedding.
  • • Order feed, bedding, and health supplies and manage inventory.
  • • Apply insecticides, disinfectants, and fly control; manage parasites.
  • • Protect animals from weather and predators by setting up shelters and fencing.
