Description
Assess, design, and deliver evidence-based exercise programs; conduct physiological testing; monitor responses; and educate clients to safely improve cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, strength, endurance, and flexibility.
- • Conduct graded exercise stress tests using electrocardiograph (EKG) equipment.
- • Demonstrate correct use of exercise equipment and proper technique for routines.
- • Develop individualized exercise programs aligned with standards and regulatory or credentialing requirements to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, and circulatory function.
- • Explain exercise programming and physiological testing procedures to clients.
- • Interpret testing and training data to evaluate progress and adjust plans.
- • Measure body composition using hydrostatic weighing, skinfold calipers, or tape measures.
- • Measure oxygen consumption and pulmonary function using spirometers and metabolic systems.

- • Assess physical performance to inform individualized recovery or rehabilitation exercise programs.
- • Calibrate and verify accuracy of exercise and testing equipment.
- • Educate athletes and coaches on performance strategies such as heart-rate monitoring, recovery, hydration, and training limits.
- • Participate in quality assurance by reviewing staff-led group exercise or diagnostic testing practices.
- • Interview clients to obtain medical history and clarify goals and readiness for exercise.
- • Train or mentor staff to lead group exercise safely.
- • Recommend diagnostic procedures, such as stress tests or laboratory screenings, per protocol.
