Support environmental compliance by conducting field monitoring, sampling, and inspections; maintaining permits, records, and reports; and assisting with corrective actions and audits to ensure operations meet federal, state, and local environmental regulations under the direction of an environmental manager, scientist, or engineer.
- • Record monitoring data and prepare compliance reports, summaries, or charts for internal and regulatory use.
- • Collect air, water, soil, and waste samples and document chain of custody for compliance testing.
- • Provide technical assistance to operations, contractors, or regulators on environmental compliance requirements.
- • Calibrate, operate, and maintain sampling and monitoring instruments.
- • Inspect facilities, equipment, and work areas for compliance with air, water, and hazardous waste regulations.
- • Recommend and track corrective actions to resolve noncompliance or reduce environmental risk.
- • Prepare, preserve, and ship samples; coordinate laboratory analyses and interpret results against permit limits.
- • Calculate emissions, discharge rates, or waste generation using approved methods and templates.
- • Initiate incident notifications and escalate potential violations per company procedures.
- • Assist with operation checks of pollution control and treatment systems to verify performance.
- • Communicate monitoring results and compliance status to supervisors and regulatory agencies as directed.
- • Maintain environmental records, permits, manifests, and compliance databases.
- • Perform basic statistical analysis and trending of environmental data.
- • Set up and operate monitoring stations at stacks, outfalls, and process locations.
- • Assist in preparing permit applications, renewals, plans, and regulatory submittals.
- • Conduct internal environmental inspections and audits; document findings.
- • Measure and verify pollutant concentrations against standards and permit conditions.
- • Implement site programs for recycling, universal waste, and hazardous waste management.
- • Monitor emission control and treatment devices to ensure proper operation and regulatory compliance.
- • Support spill prevention, response, and reporting activities.
- • Coordinate sampling schedules, contractor activities, and access to monitored areas.
- • Develop and maintain SOPs and checklists for compliance monitoring and sampling tasks.
- • Assist with environmental training and awareness for employees.
- • Analyze proposed process or material changes for environmental impacts and recommend mitigation steps.
- • Distribute and track approvals for closure, cleanup, or corrective action plans.
