Description
Select, fit, and maintain costumes for performers; assist with changes during rehearsals and shows. Handle cleaning, repairs, inventory, rentals, and backstage quick-change support in coordination with the costume team.
- • Issue costumes and accessories; log checkouts, returns, and condition.
- • Pre-set and arrange costumes in running order for quick changes.
- • Return rentals and restock items at strike; label and store by show and character.
- • Clean, launder, and press costumes; perform minor hand or machine repairs.
- • Maintain dressing rooms, wig rooms, laundry, and storage; assign lockers as directed.
- • Assist with fittings; note measurements and alteration needs.
- • Perform simple alterations; coordinate major repairs or builds with tailors or shops.
- • Purchase, rent, or requisition wardrobe items under supervisor direction.
- • Check costume appearance onstage and under lights; correct or report issues.
- • Conduct regular inventory counts; tag and track assets and condition.
- • Collaborate with costume designers, supervisors, and production staff to execute design notes.
- • Monitor and secure costumes, wigs, and makeup stock; control access as assigned.
- • Prepare dressing lists, show notes, quick-change plots, and costume check sheets.
- • Provide dressing assistance and quick-change support to performers.
- • Support wardrobe supervisor in cueing and coordinating crew during rehearsals and performances.
- • Read scripts and production paperwork to understand period, characters, and costume needs.
- • Research period references as assigned to support design intent.
- • Track petty cash, purchases, and rental deadlines; submit reports to the supervisor.
- • Recommend vendors and follow up on orders and deliveries as directed.
- • Assist with scheduling fittings and communicating with alteration staff.
- • Care for non-costume textiles and props such as flags, draperies, and table skirts.
