Description
Ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of automotive components and vehicle systems by developing and managing quality standards, validation plans, and control methods; lead testing, audits, and root-cause corrective actions across design, suppliers, and manufacturing using data-driven tools.
- • Prepare and present quality metrics, dashboards, and project status to stakeholders.
- • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions for quality processes.
- • Write, review, and maintain quality documentation, including PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and process flow.
- • Conduct capability studies, DOE, and SPC analyses to improve process stability.
- • Coordinate quality activities with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and service.
- • Provide technical direction to quality technicians and cross-functional teams.
- • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Whys, and fishbone methods.
- • Define acceptance criteria and critical-to-quality characteristics for components and systems.
- • Develop quality specifications, sampling plans, and cost of quality estimates.
- • Create and validate test methods; perform MSA and gage R&R on measurement systems.
- • Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and compliance.
- • Manage calibration and maintenance of inspection and test equipment.
- • Build and manage control charts, capability models, and quality monitoring tools.
- • Recommend and verify design or process changes to meet quality and reliability targets.
- • Plan and oversee validation and regulatory compliance testing from a quality perspective.
- • Design and implement error-proofing (poka yoke) and process controls to prevent defects.
- • Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer quality requirements and traceability.
- • Qualify materials and suppliers; define incoming inspection and supplier quality plans.
- • Lead supplier and internal audits; manage nonconformances and corrective actions.
- • Manage APQP deliverables and PPAP submissions, including Run at Rate and PSW.
- • Monitor PPM, FPY, Cp/Cpk, warranty, and field return data to drive improvements.
- • Lead containment and customer communication for quality incidents and launches.
- • Support change control, risk assessments, and control plan updates during engineering changes.
- • Train plant personnel on quality tools, standards, and problem-solving methods.
- • Stay current on IATF 16949, ISO 9001, OEM customer-specific requirements, and industry best practices.
- • Establish and maintain quality control standards, control plans, and inspection criteria.
