Description
Install, diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural machinery and precision-ag systems. Set up equipment, perform inspections, calibrations, and preventive maintenance in shop and field to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Collect performance data and prepare service records to support farmers, dealers, and engineers in improving productivity and application accuracy.
  • • Record service, diagnostic, and maintenance data for machinery and implements.
  • • Prepare service reports with results, parts, labor, and diagnostic graphs or maps.
  • • Conduct pre-delivery and seasonal inspections of tractors, combines, sprayers, and implements.
  • • Assemble and set up standard equipment, attachments, and precision-ag components.
  • • Operate and test machinery to verify repairs, calibrations, and safety functions.
  • • Calibrate planters, sprayers, and applicators for correct rates, spacing, and placement.
  • • Develop or adapt repair and maintenance procedures when documentation is limited.
  • • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and CAN-bus systems.
  • • Maintain shop tools, test equipment, and service vehicles to ensure readiness and safety.
  • • Train operators and farm staff on equipment operation, safety, and routine maintenance.
  • • Prepare and present equipment demonstrations and field days.
  • • Evaluate field performance and adjust settings to optimize throughput, fuel use, and residue management.
  • • Test and validate application systems to minimize drift, overlap, and over-application.
  • • Record GPS, as-applied, and environmental data during field tests to verify system accuracy.
  • • Measure and mix service fluids and lubricants; test with refractometers or hydrometers.
  • • Set up and use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, flow/pressure gauges, and scan tools.
  • • Handle, store, and dispose of fluids, filters, and parts per safety and environmental protocols.
  • • Inspect machines for wear, damage, leaks, or software faults; document findings.
  • • Collect and submit oil, coolant, or hydraulic fluid samples for analysis.
  • • Oversee nozzle selection, boom setup, and calibration schedules for sprayers.
  • • Respond to customer inquiries and perform on-site or remote troubleshooting.
  • • Prepare equipment for seasonal tasks by installing headers, concaves, planter plates, and firmware updates.
  • • Perform field and shop diagnostics on engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • • Test and calibrate sensors, yield monitors, moisture probes, and rate controllers.
  • • Configure GPS, guidance, section control, and prescription files in precision-ag software.
  • • Verify application rates and planter populations with weigh-checks and test runs.
